One Ray of Light CDCONCERT DATE (get the flyer here)

We are please to announce that Berakah will play their first concert of 2012 in the intimate surrounds of the beautiful All Saints Church overlooking the Thames at Old Isleworth on February 4th at 7pm.

Tickets are £10 and can be reserved by calling 020 8560 5647.

Featuring music from both albums (Music For The Heart and One Ray of Light) the concert marks the return of Serena Leader on violin and the debut of Angela Paz Alcuhema on percussion.

In these troubled times it's worth reminding ourselves what the essence of Berakah is about - we are a band featuring musicians from Jewish,Christian and Muslim Faith Heritage. We play original compositions fusing Jazz, Classical and Middle Eastern influences.

Our aim is to use music to transcend barriers of religion, race and culture as well as encouraging peace and compassion for all human beings. We believe that violence, especially that which is inspired by religion, has no place in a civil society.

Music is a perfect way to bring people together so please get in touch and if we're playing in your area come and say hello.

We would encourage all those people who are peacemakers, want to be peacemakers (or just want to hear a good tune!) to get involved with us and say hi. People of all faiths (or no faith whatsoever!) are welcome. All you need to have is the desire in your heart for peace.

The shadow of sectarian or religious violence looms large still so it's vital that peacemakers gather together and, whatever their tradition or culture, re-charge their hearts. Join us in a celebration of The Spirit of Peace and Freedom.

"There is nothing 'worthy' about Berakah. The music enchants and takes you away to experiences you cannot predict or prepare for – it is funky and spiritual, sweet and rebellious, infinitely open but defiantly itself. It has a higher purpose too. It is a riposte to joyless fundamentalisms, and an exquisite form of resistance.” - Yasmin Alibahi Brown

"It is music to make you close your eyes and dance in your head - an arresting confection of jazzy improvisation, catchy Middle Eastern chords and the beat of the darbuka drum."
- Simon Rocker, The Times

Since the release of our first album "Music for the Heart" we've been touring the UK extensively, including a sold out concert at The Purcell Room in London South Bank Centre. Now, almost two years later, all the music for the new album is written and so the long process of recording begins. To whet the appetite of our "fans", we decided to give you a sneak preview of one of the songs from the new album. Filmed in a hot, humid West London artist's garret on what was possibly the hottest day in all known history, this song is inspired by the words of Ghandi and Martin Luther King, and we hope you enjoy it!
